We Understand

Grief is part of living; it can be deep and there is no time limit.  Following the death of a loved one, many people find it comforting to be with others who understand. On Monday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00, beginning September 19 through November 7, a new eight-week grief group will meet at the Uniontown United Methodist Church. The group is open to anyone in the community who has experienced the death of someone dear. Spirituality is a component of grief, however all grieving persons are welcome,  no matter their faith  or lack of faith. The sessions will be led by Doris Feddersen, a certified Spiritual Director who retired after many years as a therapist, and  Sara Ray Roberts, who is an experienced group facilitator.  Both Doris and Sara Ray have experienced grief themselves through the deaths of their husbands and a child. Size of the group will be limited

What to Expect

Confidentiality

Grief brings out different emotions. Some people are angry. Families may become divided. Often people are angry with God.

Whatever negative or angry feelings you may have remain confidential.

Remembering your loved one

People in grief often fear that their loved one will be forgotten. It is important to share their story. What made this person special? Even babies have personality. Here is your chance to tell others them.

Moving Forward

If we didn’t love, we wouldn’t grieve.  Moving on and away from your loss is not going to happen.  You will learn strategies to help you move forward and always cherishing your memories.
